Mountain Tea (Sideritis) is a very popular indigenous plant in Greece that grows in high altitudes, used for the preparation of tisanes. It is naturally caffeine-free with low ratio of tannins and rich in flavonoids and essential oils that has been traditionally used as a natural remedy for colds. Its floral taste and sweet characteristic aroma, make it the perfect every day tea. Our tea is collected wild with respect to nature and woodland regulations, from the mountains of Pindos, in northern Greece, in an altitude of 3,200 feet (1000 meters).

Greek Mountain Tea is made using the dried leaves and flowers of Sideritis plants (ironwort). These plants are hardy flowering perennials that have adapted to survive with little water and little soil. Only one type of this plant, Sideritis raeseri, is cultivated – and only in Greece.

Organic Mountain Tea when brewing Greek mountain tea from fresh plants, you can use the flowers, stem and leaves of the plant. Place around six to eight 2-inch pieces of the plant into boiling water and lower the heat, allowing it to simmer for five to 10 minutes depending on how strong you like the tea.

Greek mountain tea has an earthy taste and, if you use the flowers, a slight floral scent. For dried tea leaves or tea bags, add about 2 tablespoons or a third of a tea bag, into a teapot and fill with boiling water, letting steep for five to 10 minutes.
